Al Shahania’s Mon’nia lands Guineas

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Mon’nia (Amer x Margouia) improved her strike rate racing to her fifth win in six starts. Julian Colin Smart’s ward won the Umm Salal Oaks Trial earlier this month and once again had Tomas Lukasek in the saddle on Thursday, November 19.

The miler saw them ease to a comfortable victory, winning by three lengths and a quarter ahead of Umm Qarn’s Jabalah, ridden by Soufiane Saadi for Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle. Jason Watson guided Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s Arguya to third place for trainer Ali Yousuf Al Kubaisi a further two lengths and three quarters behind.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Methgal (TM Fred Texas x Theeba) was back in the winner’s enclosure on Thursday after missing out on a victory on return this term last month. Trained by Julian Colin Smart, the multiple time Group winner had Tomas Lukasek in the saddle for the mile long Purebred Arabian Handicap (Far Bend) (90 & above). The 4yo colt managed to hold off a threatening challenge from Al Shaqab Racing mare Al Naama, helmed by Soufiane Saadi for trainer Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle, by half a length at the post.

Umm Qarn’s Antar (Al Mamun Monlau x Al Dahma) lined up for the Purebred Arabian Plate (3 Year Olds) (Far Bend) after coming off a victory in San Sebastian in August. Saddled by Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle on Thursday, the colt had Ronan Thomas in the saddle for the 1500m run on turf and they edged out Faleh Bughanaim ridden Tarek Du Soleil by half a length at the post for the colt’s second win overall.
